The Earth Diet · a field guide to natural healthy aging

Eat what the earth made.
Age the way it intended.

A learning site built from the Mediterranean and Blue Zones evidence, the longevity research, and one hundred foods that keep earning their place. Start in your twenties, thirties, or forties and let it compound.

100foods, by color
100recipes, ten courses
30+plants a week
20weeks to the full stack
The whole diet in one sentence

Five colors a day, a ferment at dinner, fish twice a week, beans most days, spice on everything, water first, and dessert from an orchard or a cacao pod. Nothing from a factory with an ingredient list you cannot picture growing.

Nobody taught us how to eat

We were taught fractions and state capitals, not how to feed a body so it carries us to 100. So the knowledge arrives in fragments: a headline about berries, a podcast about sleep, an aunt's opinion about eggs.

The Earth Diet gathers the fragments into one system. It is not a new diet. It is the oldest one: food directly from the earth, in every color, with the fish, olive oil, legumes, and whole grains that every long-lived population shares and that the best trials keep vindicating. What is new is the moment. For the first time, an ordinary person can download their own genome, upload six years of lab results, and ask an AI assistant to show them where their personal risks sit and which foods address them. The science of eating well and the science of knowing yourself finally meet at the same table. Here is how to use that.

SLEEPthe bedrock it all rests on

How the system is built: habits laid down like soil, each layer on the last. Food is the thickest layer, but it rests on sleep and is finished by movement, heat, and the living foods that tend the gut.

The three enemies

Most of what ages a body before its time comes through the mouth, and most of it comes from three sources. The Earth Diet is defined as much by what it leaves out as by what it puts on the plate.

Enemy one

Sugar

Excess sugar bonds to collagen and elastin and stiffens them for decades. The fine lines, the stiff arteries, the insulin that stops listening: a large share of it is built at the dessert counter and the soda fountain.

Enemy two

Ultra-processed food

Industrial formulations engineered to be eaten fast and often. In a controlled trial, people on an ultra-processed menu ate about 500 more calories a day without noticing; in cohorts of millions, the pattern tracks with earlier death.

Enemy three

Synthetic additives

Emulsifiers, artificial sweeteners, synthetic dyes, nitrites, and the rest of the chemistry that keeps a product shelf-stable and craveable. None of it grew anywhere, and the evidence on several of them is turning.

The Earth Plate, in brief

The best-tested eating pattern in modern science is the Mediterranean pattern. In the PREDIMED trial, adults at high cardiovascular risk who ate it with extra-virgin olive oil or nuts had about 30 percent fewer major cardiovascular events than a low-fat control group. RCT The Earth Plate is that pattern, stated plainly, with the Blue Zones' beans, the DASH diet's potassium-rich produce, and the Nordic pattern's berries and oily fish folded in.

Half the plate

Vegetables and fruit, in color

As many colors as the season offers; each pigment is a different protective chemistry.

Daily

Berries

Anthocyanins for the vessels, the brain, and the collagen in your skin. Frozen counts.

A handful a day

Every kind of nut

Regular nut eaters show markedly lower mortality in large cohorts. Rotate them all.

Sprinkled everywhere

Seeds

Chia, hemp, ground flax, pumpkin, sunflower, sesame, poppy: fiber, minerals, plant omega-3s.

The default carbohydrate

Whole grains and legumes

Oats, barley, farro, quinoa; lentils, chickpeas, beans. Higher fiber tracks with 15 to 30 percent lower all-cause mortality.

The default fat

Extra-virgin olive oil

Polyphenol-rich, the backbone fat of every long-lived Mediterranean population.

Two to three times weekly

Fatty fish and seafood

Wild salmon, sardines, trout, oysters. Omega-3s for heart, brain, and skin.

A living food, daily

Fermented foods

Kefir, Greek yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, miso, tempeh. The microbiome's reinforcements.

Where this comes from

The Earth Diet is not a brand and it has no product to sell. It is a synthesis of the eating patterns with the strongest evidence for long, healthy lives, trimmed to their common denominator:

Randomized trial

The Mediterranean pattern

PREDIMED, Lyon Diet Heart, and a long line of cohorts: olive oil, nuts, fish, legumes, vegetables, fruit, and wine taken with meals. The reference pattern for cardiovascular prevention.

Observational

The Blue Zones

Sardinia, Okinawa, Ikaria, Nicoya, Loma Linda. Beans daily, plants mostly, meat rarely, movement built into the day, and community. The records have drawn fair scrutiny from demographers; the diet they share is independently supported.

Randomized trial

DASH and MIND

DASH lowers blood pressure in trials through produce, legumes, and potassium; MIND, its brain-focused cousin, leans on leafy greens, berries, and fish and is associated with slower cognitive decline.

Epigenetic replication

The common denominator

In 2026, researchers scored roughly 7,500 adults against ten healthy dietary patterns and found every one of them linked to slower biological aging on DNA-methylation clocks, with more than 70 percent of the affected pathways shared. The label matters less than the plate.

Three places to begin

One habit

The Daily Bowl

Kefir, chia, hemp hearts, psyllium, bran, two berries, walnuts, cinnamon, and clove. About 24 grams of fiber before 7 a.m. If you adopt one thing, adopt this.

Know Your Body

Download your raw DNA, gather your labs, and let an AI assistant map your polygenic risks to the foods on this site. Alzheimer's risk points to fish; diabetes risk points to fiber.

If it grew from the earth, or ate things that did, it belongs on the plate. Add one habit at a time until the stack is simply the way you live. The rule of the guide

From the compiler

I am a healthy aging enthusiast through diet, and a mountain climber. I have spent years reading the longevity literature with one question in mind: what does the evidence actually support, and what does it tell you to do tomorrow morning? This site is the answer I would have wanted at twenty-five. It compiles the research, the Harvest 100 food list, and the 100 recipes built from it, and it tells you plainly which claims rest on randomized trials and which rest on biology alone. Start wherever you are. Every little bit helps, and little bits compound.
